No one else in the world has the statistical data to prove your horse is fast enough to shut off the clock – but I do.
11 years collecting interval or split timing data led me on journey to figuring out why 95% of our horses showed fast enough speed to clock in the 1D in parts of their runs, but as a whole run, we weren’t shutting off the clock.
I collected over 1 million runs on the interval timers – after the 1st race I did on intervals it changed everything I thought I knew about barrel racing and I am forever grateful for it.
All of the barrel horses looked the same. If you go back to the limited footage of barrel racing in the 80’s and early 90’s – a traditional “arena style” horse existed everywhere – not the fastest, but sturdy – good bone & feet – sometimes looked like they might be able to head a few steers too.
But then it all changed – we decided as an industry we wanted more speed and more agility.
We started mixing run and then cow into our pedigree programs – and the build started to change.
The change was subtle at first but it has come full swing.
Barrel racing is an event that can accommodate the most builds – as long as you are willing to adjust the path and posture of that build to get success and keep the horse sound.
That is what the academy is. We teach you how to understand your horses’ build & posture and understand what shape & depth of turn it needs to be successful.
We help you understand posture and the things that affect it the most, so you can get your horse sound again.
#1 – Your Horse’s Posture
Good Posture allows a horse to use its full athletic potential
The 3 things that affect your horse’s posture are:
1. Feet
2. Saddle Fit (both rider & horse)
3. Misunderstanding what your horse’s posture should look like for running
#2 – The Pattern – Build = Style
Physics plays a huge role in the path your horse is built to take on the barrel pattern and when you understand how to put this together, it is the most powerful tool we have.
The Build changed, but we haven’t changed with it and we need to – to get our horses sound again.

here is a common misconception that all horses are built to be “bendy” – but it is the connection of the skeleton that decides this
